14-11-17 RC Bang Kapi - How to not become a part of 44/100,000  15/11/2017 (ดู:8042)

This coming Tuesday, 14 November, the Rotary Club of Bangkapi will hold its weekly luncheon at the Grand Hyatt, Erawan. "How to not become a part of 44/100,000"

Thailand unfortunately ranks world’s No. 2 in road fatalities with 44 deaths per a population of 100,000 per year, according to the statistics of the World Health Organization and University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute.

How can Thailand, the Land of a Thousand Smiles, a sophisticated economy with excellent infrastructure come 2nd in the world in this undesirable ranking?
What could we as individuals do to not become a part of this alarming statistic the 44 of100,000?
Can Thailand halve the number of deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes by 2020 under the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets?

The speaker on this topic will be Mr. Kasemchai Nitiwanakun.  Mr. Kasemchai has completed a two-week certificate course on Global Road Safety Leadership Course at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, in August 2017.

He is currently the program grantee’s lead member of “Global Road Safety Partnership” –  a program hosted by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Lunch will be 620 THB and wine 150THB a glass.   We look forward to seeing you there.
